back in the days GM sold oversized stem valves for SBC engines.

Oversize stems are necked down to standard at the keeper area. No special consideration is needed for keeper or retainer fit.

Agree with eliminating the problem when I run into it. No sense in passing along a headache to the next guy who happens to work on it.

Way back years ago, before I knew better, I had my virgin big valve -461 real fuelie heads knurled.

Wished I hadn't done it.

I took them in to get a valve job done and told the guy that they were fuelie heads and you know the look that I got from him, "Like sure"!

Went to pick them up and he said, "Right, they are real fuelie heads!"... Take good care of them because I have never seen a real pair before...
