U-joints are more likely to fail due to a lack of movement. A friend of mine broke the rear U-joint in his SBC ski boat after less than 5 hours of running, due to severe brinelling from lining them up at zero degrees. He reset them to ~1.5° and thirty years and over 1,000 hours later the new ones are still going strong.
