Not why it's done. It's 100% a wet flow thing.
So before you had access to a wetflow bench this was the case?

What did the this show you with the wetflow?

If a thicker boundary layer is needed does that mean the port was too big?

Did the wetflow improve et, bsfc, hce.etc?

Just curious

When I first got involved in porting with motorcycle engines in the late fifties, rough intake port finishes to help keep fuel droplets better entrained were already widely used; no idea from how far back.

I still remember an episode circa 1964 with a customer I later dubbed "Norman the Poison Dwarf". I sweated blood porting his 2.0 L. Triumph TR4 head to revered guru Kas Kastner's specs, only to be told by Norman that I'd screwed up by being too lazy to finish the intake ports. He took the head elsewhere and spent more than I'd charged to have it "fixed" and reported that the resulting shine "was like chalk and cheese" compared to my efforts.. #-o

Larry Meaux took the time and effort to test this back-to-back on the dyno. If you did not already know that, research it. Serious racers have been doing it forever.

I have done back to back testing too. Just wondering what Chad found?

Serious racers also run fresh out of the cnc finished combustion chambers, pistons, ports. Etc

Larry posted here in great detail about his A-B-and back to A ( =D>) results, so while we're waiting for Chad to weigh in, how about sharing yours?

[attachment=0]20180204_I have been working on radius exhaust throat with a mild finish. I would like some input. This valve job is not finished. Thanks, Charlie
