If you don't mind reusing the same lifters, buy/build a bunch of cheap 'magnets on a stick' to hold them all up while you slide out the cam.
Madbill. Looks like you have mistaken his cam for a hydraulic roller. His cam is actually a flat tappet hydraulic. Re using these lifters on a new cam would be a disaster.
Shit!!! These forums are dangerous. It's a good thing I looked back on here or I would have ran out and swapped this using that method lol. It's still a great idea.

Put a 230 deg hyd roller in it and enjoy a very stout combo. Flat tappets are ancient tech

But as mentioned in the other thread, open unlocked converter th350/th400 trans deals eat a ton of power. They never dyno well, not like a modern 4l60e or 80e with a locked converter. And also mustang dynos typically show even less power than dyno jets. Can be a few % less

Isn't there a good flat cam that will work well with my combo and give me a stout combo and better for the street?

Unfortunately I'm gonna have to live with the th400 and this holeshot 2400 for now. It's just money down the drain. LS and a 4l80e are the goal. This setup just needs to let my wife and I enjoy the car for a few years on sunny days. And give me time to learn and budget in a more modern power plant.

Another engine guru buddy of mine recommended I just swap out to the comp 280h cam set and it would work well with everything else I have. Anyone else think this would be a better suited cam for my needs?

If the price is right go for it. That will be far more lively low/mid compared to what you have now. A much more fun traffic light cruiser.

Would I need to buy different pushrods and Or rocker arms? And would I need to take it to the dyno again?

If you are needing to find something "off the shelf", I would suggest a LUNATI #60103. Other than new lifters, nothing else needed

I don't necessarily need something off the shelf. I could purchase a custom grind if it would better suit the rest of my engine and transmission combination and my needs as far as street/highway usage. Do you think I would be better off contacting someone about a custom cam?

Yes, if you are going to bother to change the cam, by all means, get a custom cam.

Prior to my move to a Dick Jones roller, I ran that very cam in a 69 Nova, all steel, 350 with DH heads, points ignition, 3800 Continental converter, Vic Jr and 650 DP. It was quick on the streets of SoCal in 1990. 3m, Grove, etc. Made some cash, that car.

Put a Vic Jr on it, a 750 DP, get rid of the 2.5" exhaust and let it eat.

This one calls for a 3k stall converter or bigger. I have a 2400 hole shot in there now...

Will this cam work well with my heads and converter? And fairly low compression? With my existing quick fuel 735 carb.
And I realize they are just numbers but do you think my HP and or TQ numbers will improve?
Also, do you think my current tune will need to be completely reworked? Or maybe just changing to a smaller jet will suffice ?

I chose it, to work with your current setup, so you will only need to change cam and lifters.
It'll make a bunch more torque, and won't lose any top-end power.
You will have to tune it. It'll need a jetting change, and may want less ignition timing.
