I wonder when will it be when a one serious speed junkies will put one of these really big engines on nitro and run it down the 1/4 mile.

Run it down the 1000ft you mean. It probably won't ever happen because there is no money in it. Top Fuel is where the sponsor money and payout is so they will follow their rules. The only place you may see such a thing is Land speed racing.

The fastest wheel driven piston engine streamliner ever is the Speed Demon Powered by a 390 ci Chevy small block making about 2700 hp. 462 MPH one way...For LSR, the days of multiple engine or aircraft engines might be gone ....

But, its unsafe to go that fast. 1000 ci motors with governors that only let them go so fast and run to the 330 mark. Safety first.

Likely true, but the fastest ever piston engine vehicle has a 4,000+ HP aircraft engine, because it is one, a Grumman F8F Bearcat Reno air racer named Rare Bear, which was timed at 528 MPH in 1989... :)

and 330 is safe................ right #-o Maybe the drivers should sit in the stands and run the cars by remote control just to be safe. Nobody is forcing anybody to sit in or race a fast car. If the car is built sufficiently well the drivers will willingly race to any speed the car will go to.

When no one wants to get in a car and race it, then it is too fast or too unsafe.

I believe that the speed rating for the GoodYear fuel tire is 340 MPH.

Do you really need 20,000 hp. I think you would be riding the traction limit of the tire for the whole length of the track and you would never be able to apply all 20,000 hp to it.

Then its high time Goodyear gets off their asses or they'll be running 750 ft. soon. Betcha that 340 mph rating has been around for 15-20 years.

I know I've exceeded the 108mph rating on my tires quite a few times...Still here to tell the tale.

It just hit me like a train...I know what to do with the 1000ci Top fuel engine. Put it in the Crowmod! Lol...Maybe with that it will be able to compete in Promod then.
