Anybody ever try out long reach spark plugs in these Heads during a dyno session?

They look like a great candidate to me!
I would but I would grind the extra threads off to keep them from overheating and causing a detonation issue.

Bad idea to allow any thread to extend into the chamber. At best it will carbon up and screw up the threads, at worst there's risk of it turning into a glow plug.

I've never seen a "long reach" 18 mm spark plug before for 289 heads. What does it look like?

How about the adapters that allow use of a ton of different 14 mm plugs?

Tell me more about these 'adapters' to put the 14 mm plugs in place of the 18mm originals.

Yes David,to me these Heads look like they would love to have the flame light off way more in the middle of the chamber, no?
A colder plug , and yes the grinding off of the excess unused threads would need to take place as posted also.

I believe Timesert makes a triple oversized Bigsert that is larger than 18mm and necks down to 14mm.

Looks like a very risky procedure with low likelihood of any gain.

LOL Bill, I didn't say I was going to do it. But, if I was going to do it, I'd just lathe up some "adaptors". :) My post was just to show there looks to be an alternative for guys without access to a lathe.

Bill-C You can Call REAM Richardson Engineering and products, They make adapters but for a tapered plug And they will make the same adapters as Garrett Machine used to, alot of people on the Bigblock Forums used to use them. Talk to John and said around 10 bucks. These are for 3/4 reach but i'm sure he can make for 5/8 or what ever you wanted cheap. Made of same material as a plug. 1-9892770141
