For my own sanity, how do these flow figures compare to other porters flow on similar 289 heads? I am thinking about the best safe thickness flows will be about 240 cfm 180 cfm. Thanks, Charlie

Ok, no input. Well, I feel pretty good about these just some more checking and I will send these on their way. These were very good to measure off of and compare to the E7TE heads. Similar but not the same. Thanks, Charlie

I have done a bunch of those castings Charle, but just Bowl porting work other wise I would have some numbers for you.

For the trolls who love failure. Back on the barbi for the smallest of leaks on my welded port. The insane Florida sun aided hours long cool down. So much for shipping these today. I knew I had better give them a good testing. Perfect day for welding in a leather.

Welding the smallest of leaks started three more and that is how the whole day was. Burned up three burrs grinding that damn rock hard nickle. Back on it tuesday, time for some much needed family time.

Charlie, I still think body solder would work good on those breaks into a water jacket if you can chamfer the hole some. Solder has been used on cooling systems for years... I've done some test repairs this way and had no problem tinning the cast if it's cleaned up good, adhesion was A+. Another plus is the temps are low enough I doubt you'd ever warp anything. Or just follow up with the solder after your welding-it flows into pinholes and voids just fine if you clean it good and have a good liquid flux. Shapes easy too

Sorry to hear that. Unless someone has spent countless hours grinding they really can't relate to how disappointing this would be. YouTube had a few videos on ways to repair cast. Spray welding looks like a good option too.

I've had the best results with brazing thin cast iron. Just dont be tempted to grind the braze too thin again. Just give up some of the flow on that port.

What is the application for those heads? Dyno r+d mule? racecar? Make sure you have an agreement with your customer on what happens if the heads spring a leak in use. Protect yourself.

These will be used to stress test a D.V. 289 motor and if they survive will be sold at a modest price. I would always warn a customer that a head was welded. Thanks, Charlie
