What kit to make port molds?
I want to make silocone molds of intake runners and need to buy affordable supplies someplace. Any ideas?

I don't know about silicone but I've used the urethane rubber compound from US Composites to do port molds and it works great. If you use their stuff you want to use the 74-30 not any harder compound or it can be really tough to remove. The harder stuff works great for making a mold of something like a combustion chamber though.

Thanks for the quick reply ! Ordering it now. $ 70.00 for a gallon plus freight out of florida. Good deal.

A really cheap way for smaller ports but it does take time and practice

Some folks have used Dental Molding compounds:

If you are going to use the molds for measuring, you need to pay attention to the material shrinkage.
Some of the suppliers list it.

Here is a link to the 74-30 that I use.

You mix it up and pour it in the port and when it sets up It's like silicone rubber. You take valve out of the head and pry the mold away from the walls and shoot a little wd40 in there and push on it and it squeezes out thru the valve opening. It has SG very close to 1.00 so you can weigh the stuff before you mix it to match the grams of the stuff to the cc's of the port and you waste very little and get the mix right. Gives a different look to a port from the outside instead of looking at the inside. You can slice up the mold to get csa at different places in the port also.
Here's a mold I did of a 23ºsbc head.

Here's another one with marks where I will cut it for CSA measurements.
