you have to have a really good grinder to do that - the crank is not indexed

Get Smokey Yunick book he say in if you need to tighten up your clearance a little just sand the caps a very little at a time to get less clearance..

No way would I run one with over .0035.

Why not simply have the mains ground to .020 ?

Run those main bearing clearances over .0035" and you will probably slowly pound the bearings into end of life condition. JMo
