Here are a couple photos of the propshaft mounted alternator used
on the 1988 Audi TransAm cars. I like the rear mounted oil cooler, too.

Deere had a very tiny PMA alternator on most of their 3 Cyl diesel mowers. AKA very light. Granted, it needs an external regulator/rectifier.
