I have used a remote relief valve at the other end of the block - prevents cavitition, heat
Not sure what you have in mind, but remote sounds like it’s in series rather than in parallel with the flow. Doesn’t sound right.

I think that's the point. It ensures everything ahead of it always sees that pressure or HIGHER not lower. Also prevents oil recirculating in the pump.
LOL, according to the post count I'm an "expert." The only thing I'm an expert at is asking questions.

the idea of a remote pressure regulator sounds good actually. Same reason why you use return-style fuel pressure regulators.
Question: where do you buy those regulators? Anyone have a good part number?
Just working on a big block Mopar, where any oil system help is good.

Hi dave
for the boats I made them out of the "outside the block" Big Block Mopar pumps, tapped for hoses and sealed up where necessary- easy to do and easy to change springs
hate to have to pull a motor just to change a pressure spring
I understand that threaded relief valves are available off the shelf for many applications-- even your waterheater has one
I'll check Grangers
