Mech flat tappet recommendation from Mike .

I like it , smaller than what I thought
Don't bother with a HYD cam.. You are all set with this cam.

Notice it is very close to the .050" duration of that Snotty Comp Magnum street roller cam I mentioned. (238-246 @.050")
It is about as close as you will get to that but in a good Mechanical flat tappet cam.
Be sure to verifiy the springs installed height on your heads. I would actually be nice to remove then and get them checked for pressure. A local machine shop will do this. Mike Jones will give you his seat and open installed sparing pressures etc.

Degree that cam in. On BBC's you want it installed right.

That BBC Chevelle is going to run very good.

post back when you get it all done. Get some Hot'n sticky tires and header collector extensions... ;-)

so let's see if your buddy will go mech ft

Built in 88 doesn't specify which block is used. Is this a Mark IV block?

Didn't I see some discussion here somewhere detailing modern roller lifters being too tall for the lifter bores of the Mark IV causing accelerated lifter bore wear?

Are any of the retrofit roller lifters of a 'short' style for the Mark IV block?

This can be a serious consideration for those of us with older blocks thinking of mordernizing cam and lifters. I know I am concerned about any potential problem. I would have a huge problem spending that much not to have it last very well when a FT would give a very long service life in that old block.

Customer is going solid flat , got him to accept 6500max .

This is recommendation from bullet .....

CHB 282/292-F110+5
Duration @ .050 = 248/255
Lift with 1.7 rockers = .570/.586
Lobe separation = 110
Intake centerline = 105

A lot different than last spec I got from jones , but requested 6000 max .

Have tried to get second recommendation from him , thru email and by phone with no answer ....

What you guys think ?

This cam and others of similar duration will run well in this car with more rear gear.
4.10 ( 26" tire) 4.30 (28"tire)
A slightly more aggressive torque converter is nice too (4000-4500 real stall) (10")
A single plane Vic JR oval port manifold starts to work on a 454 motor with a cam like this too. (Both intake will work well) consider a bigger 850 DP carb for this one. It needs to breathe deep and rev up a bit more

It is a more aggressive running cam. You are moving away from a "street cruiser" into more of a weekend warrior combo with more gear ratio for more rpm with this one.
Consider more than 3.55 gears for this one in that car.

I gave bullet my gear, head, cam , intake, weight , and carb info.... I have already recommended 950 to customer, but he is thinking fuelinjection possibly so maybe use funds for FItech setup.

I Bigger than I thought too, and borderline on the rpm intake... Manners not important, got permission from customer to make it "nasty" lol..

Told him little more rpm give him more, gave me the go...
