Don't bother with anything smaller than 2x 750 carbs.
For street strip the eddy 750's work fine.. The holley bg street demon 750's look promising too.
I only have experience with the edelbrock 750 carbs.
500hp 331 with a Muthr Thumpr cam?

The racing flat tappet will need to Same maintence
including hand visual inspection of the lifter faces
to catch any wearing parts and REPLACE before
they go south on ya. In the flat tappet case you Will be replacing both the cam and all lifters at the first
sign of wear.. The street roller lifters can be rebuilt and or replaced singlularly .. the acting mechanical forces are the same .There is no free lunch.
not getting issues at all with the comp street roller
stuff. Actually setting valve lash correctly is a big factor.

You are no different than most street racer guys... Want a race car but don't want to get your hands dirty.
(required routine maintence, parts inspection and replace.)
"Holywood" 's ha ha.

Why don't you flow twst the intake on the head, on the flow bench and measure the intakes runner cross section area..
It may need work. Ports may be too small as cast for the rhs heads. It all has to work together.
That intake was origionally cast with the factory windsor heads of the day, in mind.
The nice thing about the t ram is port access for porting and mods for modern power.

If you are hell bent pn going flat tappet then go with Mike Jones (CamKing)
He will need detailed informatipn. including fonished manifold dimentions..
You will be doing maintaince and inspection on his good stuff too.
Including correct breakin..

I have not been following this thread really closely but it appears going around in circles
there is no perfect answer
ask Mike
but
high ratio rockers on the intakes
Mopar size the lifters instead of bushing them
One of Mikes FT mopar grinds might come close to a HR or SR
what F-bird said about pulling all the data together for where you're at so far

Re: 500hp 331 with a Muthr Thumpr cam?
I have some 302 Ford mushroom lifters that would save machining the block. LOL
Re: 500hp 331 with a Muthr Thumpr cam?
yes LOL especially if they hit on adjacent lobes or the bottom of the lifter bores at the block- those were the days
mushrooms would not help if the bores are worn
I'm thinking that having them round and straight is a good start and larger is better (if legal) and less expensive than bushing

FoMOCoSteve you might want to consider buying and using the computer program PIPEMAX to evaluate the engine and the tunnel ram induction system. Look at Speier's stuff to see how and why to measure the intake manifold port volume, average cross section and minimum cross section and runner tuned length.
Does the intake need to be ported to get the air flow and air speed right to make the power you want?
If not what is the potential and what is the best you can make it. You will save your self a lot of guessing and
probably spend less $$ and time to reach you goals.
If you buy the program you may get some help once you have collected useful measurements.
Here is a program to evaluate the valve timing (camshaft) Now you can both evalutate a existing/available camshaft (Like the XR292R-10) and or compare to "the perfect camshaft" custom grind for the job.
Not that hard.
