I would love to see a roller cam in this. Not a fan of flat tappets at all. I know they work, they can make power and some even last.

Yes it is. The numbers are different than if you just average them. I am sure he has his act together with his calculators.

I know it would not help out bob, but it might be educational to see how much flow would be picked up putting this head on a 4.5 bore fixture. or any bigger fixture for that matter. Just to see how much the flow increases due to the bore size change.

My fixture is a fixed 4.3" bore. Still thinking of how I can make smaller bore size sleeves that will stay put.

Just found this old post from Larry. Feeling a bit better about these and my two sets of 781's.

I agree Charlie, doesn't appear to be much left to go after other than maybe at really high lift ranges but at the expense of lower lift flow I bet.

Lets put Larry's statement into perspective. .070 over 454s with flattop pistons, peanut port 236 heads, 2.065/1.720 valves, and QuadraJets make 720 STP corrected HP. The same setup except for 049/781 heads make 740 corrected STP HP.
Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.

Experiment: install 2.19" valve no back cut install 1.88"exhaust no back cut and no rounded face. Check flow.

It looks like the rounded face on the exhaust helps quite a bit?

I am guessing Mark is trying to illustrate that it is the total combination and attention to detail that is going to get results not just good head flow numbers and I get that. I think he finds 50hp in just his oiling system mods LOL!
