Yes and No. Your advice was good it turns out, had Creason..who did the machining on the block, run a profilometer over it. Which is something he did when it was first done fortunately. There was a dramatic change in RA. It was very very smooth. So rehone, new rings...good finish etc. The question is.....what caused the dramatic change in surface finish in such a short time?

I feel like it will be fine now, just not sure how I ended up in this place to begin with. I did have some crazy crazy light oil expander in it. 4.005 expander low tension in a 4.040 bore. And it kinda got beat up, I knew that risk going in.,but I don't have a solid explanation of where my ring seal went to on the compression rings. It leaked down really good before, but definitely had issues, wouldn't pull any vacuum.

It does take more than 6#'s of torque to rotate it now.

Thats good that you at least have something to watch, not knowing anything would be an expensive mystery, id be interested to know what the previous rvk numbers were before and after if Joe would disclose, you can pm me if you want to protect his info, if you are willing, ra dosent tell much by itself but i could see good cranking psi with bad oil control depending on surface finish, good luck on the pulls, 6lbs?, you are brave

I wonder if it'd still be ok if it had vacuum on it from the start ?

For ring seal or power confirmation?
For power it seems you would want a baseline from your previous test to know what effects what.

Hard to tell nowdays if you're being facetious or not, but I was thinking the same thing- and I was serious

I think their is a chance it could have sealed up better, with vacuum on it from the start. But I think I would have been back into the engine eventually anyway from what I saw.

What all is on the list to test, and what's the planned testing sequence ?
RPM for the tests ?

Is it actually going in the car after this dyno session ?
Or is it a dyno mule now ?

Mostly depends on if I'm going to try the new cam. If I don't try the new cam, I can wrap up in one day. With the new cam, it would most likely be a day and a half deal. But....ideally

Find best cam position with current cam
Rocker current cam
Tri y header
vacuum pump
New cam
Cam position
Rocker testing
Got some new shear and anti reversion plates to try if time permits
Got a fresh Whitener Carb to try
Revz faster test
Burr finishing(if the dyno can survive the power increases)
Spins tires in the rain test

Special needs will be retired after this, and will be residing in my car....Project Overflowz will be its replacement^2

IM OUT...and also MOO....but I may be back???????

And you wonder why people are reluctant to post on Speed Talk any more?

We need to use more emojis so that everyone can get the 'in' jokes. \:D/

Maybe; it depends on the details. Perhaps I'm just slow, but I can't tell who (If anyone) is slamming whom in the preceding posts. =P~
