LS cam bearing failures

Lately in the shop I have seen some 6.0l GM engines come in with spun cam bearings that have caused a few otherwise good cores to be useless. Is anybody making an oversized OD cam bearing set for these blocks? If not does anyone know of any other fixes?

Durabond has some oversize OD cam bearings available. Not sure about LS applications though. Give them a call.

last I had a problem, Durabond did have .020 undersized ID bearings for the LS. Bored them to size

Now for the OD problem, not sure what you will get into

I can get another 6.0L for about $400 so I have to consider the cost of the oversize OD bearings and the machining to oversize the housing bores but it is so hard for me to give up on a "patient".

I just discovered a set of oversize OD LS cam bearings. Durabond part number CHP-25R1.

More Durabond info for LS, cam saver and block saver info as well as some replacement parts.

Which cam b location spun? We just fixed an LSX block by boring spun housing bore for bearing for a different location that was .020 bigger od.

Its usually the #3 housing bore. I've thought about that too. Did you have good alignment after boring just the center?

Yes, good alignment. Cam bearing squirmed out towards back, leaving a small, un-damaged area to measure and center up on. We used .0055 press fit.
