Is there a way to link a video from face book to here? My last race of the year went down last night. It was awesome. I lost but it was still awesome!! Got a couple cool videos.

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
I'm making some big changes to my combo this winter. I sold my turbo 350 and my trans specialties 3500 convertor. Got a good price so i ordered up a ATI convertor and a turbo spline input shaft for a glide. Bought a V8 glide core and am gonna build it up. The new ATI convertor is supposed to flash to 5200. Also will probably change from my current 3.50 gears to 4.10 and do a mini-tub to fit 29 x 11 slicks. Just doing changes as i sell old parts. Learned a few lessons. To hook a big motor on the street a glide seems to work much better. Hopefully all this will help my 60 ft times alot. Trying to decide if i need a trans-brake or not. I've never used one before. A week ago i street raced a friend with a high tens GTO (small block 377, glide, 250 shot of juice, drag radials) He destroyed me. His car hooks, mine doesn't. It was fun but i'm never going to live it down! I'm also still on the fence with the cam. I wish my canadian money was worth more than monopoly money in the states then i would try lots of things!

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
Another vote here for keeping that current cam! That cam will achieve your e.t. goals once you sort out the rest of the combo, stating with the entire exhaust system. Also, imho a 5200 converter is pretty loose for that combo.
Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
Hello Chris, would you be able to tell me what the intake closing point of that cam is? Also, I noticed that the ad states, cam has the stepped nose for use with the thrust plate in any BBC block, not sure what this means, would this cam drop into my Merlin 3 block?cstraub wrote:Cam is on Racing Junk. I have gotten 2 calls about it.
Thanks for any input.

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
the cam is still in my motor. Have had a little interest in it. Don't really care if i sell it or not. Thats why my price is probably to high for a used cam for most people. I'm doing other mods to my car over the winter as i stated a few posts back. This is the cam i would try if i sell my current cam:

Can't afford any more custom cams
I like the specs based on advice from a few different guys who are much smarter than me, and i also like the price. But with the mods i'm doing (gears, glide, ATI convertor) and maybe exhaust and mini-tub my car may well go into the high nines with my current Straub cam. I like Chris and he has been good to me so no matter what i do i would recomend people give his cams a try. Others on this forum such as Mike Jones have also given me advice as well even though i haven't bought anything from him.

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
I'll bring this old thread back to life since it details my build up. Just got my 81 malibu running today with a bunch of winter changes. Best pass last summer was 10.59 at 128 mph. Here is my list of changes for this summer:
Quick fuel 1050 2 circuit dominator (had a pro-systems 1000 4150 carb)
Edelbrock super victor intake (had a 4150 victor)
2 speed glide with BTE brake and other exspensive guts (had a turbo 350 with no brake)
ATI 5200 8 inch convertor (had a TCI super street fighter 4000 stall)
4.10 gears (had 3.50 gears)
MT 29.5 x 9 ET drags ( had MT 28 x 9 ET drags)
still have my same exhaust system and Straub solid roller. Hopefully i'm going in the right direction this year. I followed the DV cam selection thread and it basically convinced me to stay with my current cam. Spent most of my money on the car and not the motor after talking to Vortecpro last fall allthough i didn't get the convertor he suggested. One other thing i may do is put a cheap electric vacuum pump on the motor. This carb and intake gave me no place to put my PCV valve and i've always liked to run one.

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
First good test drive tonight. The motor seems to love that big carb. New transmission seems to work good. I haven't installed the 4.10 gears yet. Will do that next week now that i'm happy with the tranny. Also i haven't hooked up the trans-brake yet. Never used one before. Any tips on the best way to wire it up?

My glide needs the transbrake pushed to back up. It's easy to wire up. you should have a 2 step.prairiehotrodder wrote:First good test drive tonight. The motor seems to love that big carb. I will say my car was off the chart using the dex6 fluid as far as the brake and the shift.prairiehotrodder wrote:First good test drive tonight. The motor seems to love that big carb. I have my brake hooked through a relay that probably slows the release down but seat time will tell..
Every Bake car I have driven needs the brake engaged to back up. Just go to neutral and press the button and presto....LOL

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
Mine is not a pro-brake. Its a BTE bracket brake which does not require the button pushed for reverse.
