.120 Wall Pushrods

Post by Bad78Cutlass »

Pros/Cons of a 5/16 x .120 pushrods? Application is a 23* SBC - .703/.648 lift after lash - 270ish on the seat and mid 700 open. I have the pressures wrote down, I just cant remember them to the exact number. 7000 rpm shift and crosses through at 7400.

I currently have 5/16 x .080 Comp cam ones and have 8 passes on it all. Since the season is basically over, I believe stronger pushrods are in order. I do not have enough clearance to run a 3/8 pushrod currently, thats why Im asking about the .120 wall pushrod.

Pros: .120" wall pushrod is stronger Cons: still not enough

If you have shaft rockers Manton makes a .120" wall 11/32" pushrod that may fit where a 3/8" won't

It's ok if the pushrod touches the head (ever so slightly) as this helps to manage pushrod harmonics

Where about does the taper start on the pushrod? Would anyone have any pictures of them compared to a std pushrod? Tapered may work? Never thought of that

Thanks for the replies so far

Just seen that they have 3/8 to 5/16 tapered pushrods in different wall thicknesses

Call Trend and have them send you one to see if it fits. They stock a lot of different stuff so it may be a shelf item. When I send them my sample pushrod to match they match it to the closest in stock length and send out what I need the same day.

I have a set of 5/16 x 7.800 x .116 wall custom labeled pushrods. Can't remember, either they are made by Trend or Smith Bros. Anyhow. I was trying them in a low spring pressure application and they have 3 dyno pulls on them. Would love to make someone a deal on these. Call me at 308-384-3000 if interested
