Re: Push rod
I prefer trend. I also prefer nothing smaller than 3/8. If you can make bigger pushrods fit, do it.

Re: Push rod
I use Smith Brothers...and a .080" 5/16 rod is not rigid enough for that application in that length...Call Smith Bros with your spring pressures, RPM, and length and they can tell you what is needed.

Re: Push rod
I agree, I'd go with larger, 3/8" at a minimum, thickest wall available. Preferably go with 7/16" if you have the room.
Trend, Smith Brothers, Manton (my preference), all very good.

Re: Push rod
I have actually had a guy call me that spent 300 dollars and lots of work to replace his 5/16 dia, o80 wall, with some 3/8 dia, 165 wall to tell me his car slowed down at the drag strip. I myself have made a switch from 6/16 to 3/8 on the dyn and got absolutely NOTHING as far as more horsepower is concerned-- I only do it on very high RPM, serious race engines

Just to pick on you a little, if you switched 6/16th pushrods for 3/8th ones I'd not expect a change eitherbigjoe1 wrote: I myself have made a switch from 6/16 to 3/8 on the dyn and got absolutely NOTHING as far as more horsepower is concerned.

I'm sure you meant 5/16th but that was too good to pass up.

Re: Push rod
If he slowed down, or you see no gains, it's because the rest of the system isn't up to snuff either.bigjoe1 wrote:I have actually had a guy call me that spent 300 dollars and lots of work to replace his 5/16 dia, o80 wall, with some 3/8 dia, 165 wall to tell me his car slowed down at the drag strip. Re: Push rod
manley pushrods seems to be a good choice for the money. running a 406 sb chevy ( drag race ) with an aggressive solid roller cam, .670 lift , shifting at 7400 rpms. so far no issues with the 5/16 .080 wall pushrods.
