Varience in adv. LSA and Actual.

Post by DCarr511 »

What are some comkon numbers for todays camshafts ? I had some problems degreeing a camshaft in ( typical SBC Hyd. Roller ) and at first the ICL was no where near where it was supposed to be then I think I might have figured out that issue but when I went back and checked the LSA which was advertised as 110* I was getting 111* - 113* ( w/ 112* being the most common that came up.

And for the ICL I have the Cam retarded and it is now repeatedly coming in at 112*.

Do you know how accurate your block is made? A roller lifter is more sensitive to bottom of the lifter bores leaning in or out than a flat lifter. Any lifter bore that is not perfectly squared and centered on the cam center will read improperly. Same holds true for the lifter roller not being in the exact center of the lifter, but I imagine you checked that. My personal experience is cams are usually ground closer than blocks are machined.
