X2! I've disregarded timing marks for years, preferring this "Down and Dirty" method of putting the cam in the right place. You don't need marks when you understand the relationship between TDC and split overlap.

Both your cams checked just fine within 2 deg.
They are both fine. The cam is not the problem.
Move on. You have a vacuum leak or a ignition sys problem.
