Moroso Oil Pan doesn't fit!

I went through the same scenario with a Jesel belt drive and Stef's pan on my two-piece rear main SBC. I first tried the "thick" Fel-Pro one piece pan gasket, and it was too tall to allow the pan rails to rest on the block. I returned it and got the "old" style "thin" Fel-Pro pan gasket. Here's the part numbers:

P/N 1885 - 1957-74 thin front seal - LH dipstick - 2 piece rear main

P/N 1880 - 1975-79 thick front seal - LH dipstick - 2 piece rear main
P/N 1882 - 1975-85 thick front seal - straight side rails - 2 piece rear main
P/N 1881 - 1980-85 thick front seal - RH dipstick - 2 piece rear main

P/N 1886 - 1986-97 thick front seal - one 1pc rear main seal

I have a custom pan from Moroso and never used either pan seal. I lay out a heavy bead around the timing cover and rear main cap. After the pan is in place and tighten down, i just wipe off the excess. Never had an oil leak and pulling 15/17 inches of vacuum in the crank case.

yes there are different front cover, if it is a SBC I would use the 1821 felpro pan gasket
