What everyone is trying to tell you is you will waste every dime you spend. Try Competition Products, they have decent stuff they clear out from time to time.

What about the 781 ovals would they be worth a re-ground and valve job. I dont even know what valve is in the 781s

I do believe the rectangular ports have a bigger port volume, most adequate to your engine size.

The ovals would make mid range torque like a freight train though.

Sorry, no hard data, Small block guy here. :?

I thought as long as they have been making these heads they would have improved them by now.
they seem to have improved on the pistons and rotatting equipment. (or have they?)

I beleive the only thing they are improving is the room clearance for store the returned products.

I will run any stock ported head instead of those. At least the parts will stay in the correct place.

Given the search function available to anyone who can post here, you really have to wonder why the #$)( anyone would even consider a set of Pro Comp heads for anything. Well, anything except maybe a paperweight, and even then I'd be embarassed to have them around. [-X

As a side note, 1/2 of the oem intake runners,rect/oval, don't remember which, turn the charge towards the cylinder wall, and thus loose about 20 cfm. FWIW, flyingwedge.

did you ever say what class you are running?
brackets or heads up?
If brackets stock heads make sense
oval ports can be made to run good, lots of torque and consistent
keep your money in your pants
bib buck heads next time around

To answer your questions.
I am running a 1985 T/A on a chris alton full tube chassis
with a 598 merlin3 race block forged steel eagle rottating assembly and
manley 14.5.1 pistons. i am gonna run heads up or bracket. ( I hope)
I am In OK now and the local track is NHRA santioned ,so i don't
know which way to go with the rules. I got a rule book.
They said they was gonna have a outlaw class.
I am originally from North Alabama and at the local track it is bracket
or heads up. (No NHRA santioned tracks.)

My problem is i am geting very impatient with the season about
to kick off without a ride, but i knew it was going to take time
to build. the more i search around the more i can taste it.
Thanks
R.C.

Back up, take your time, and do it right the first time. It is much cheaper, and your season may start later, but it might not end too early and too ugly.

I see that all the Pro Crap stuff is being sold under the Sydney Speed Supplies brand name now here in Australia.
Maybe Pro Crap is a dirty word now, advertising wise that is.

Take a s 2nd look at the RHS360 head
I have used several sets in the past few years and they are an uptown head design. They do not need anything out of the box but they are a way better part.
The machining quality is as good as any other head but way less money and use most std. hardware and any BBC head needs adjustable guide plates to get the rockers centered on the valve tip so don't feel bad.
