Mahle pro series pistons

Has anyone used the Mahle pro series ASCS piston, if so how do they stand up?

I haven't used the ASCS piston, but I have used the Mahle Professional series pistons before. They are a very nice piston and have never had a problem with using them.

Ok well I was just wondering because I am going to order a set but talked to a few guys and they said that theres some issue's with the dome cracking, I dont know if this is true or not because the only pro series I've worked with was a Sb2.2 or a flat top SBC 2bbl pin guided rod deal.

I've used the pro series 4.130x 3.35 ascs in a super latemodel when I couldn't wait for a custom cp.I just freshened it and the pistons were in excellent shape after 2000 laps.I would use them again definately.

I have never seen any piston of any brand 'crack' at the dome- there just aren't those type of forces there. I HAVE seen pistons start to come apart at the valve pockets if they were cut too deep without checking the thickness there, but I would have to say that the dome has the least stress out of any part of the piston.

I've used them, they are good. A few years ago some cracked in the strut area but it wasn't were it caused any problems and they had a lot of use(over 1200 laps in an ASCS sprint). You had to look VERY closely to find the cracks. The pins apparently were a little light and were flexing causing the crack according top MAHLE. I have heard of domes cracking for the same reason. The next set had pins that were a little heavier. They also were about the lightest available at the time and required very little dome rework.

I just built a new ASCS sprint car engine the beginning of this year with the Mahle Pro Series ASCS Dome 4.125 bore piston. Have about 5 races so far, turning 8800 rpm. No issues yet! This motor made 730 hp on the dyno, and thats with their napier ring pack... Good Luck!!!
