I have a 3310 available to try, it's worth a shot.

yep barny, That would be worth a try. The best 3310 carbs are the ones with the drop leg boosters and metering block in the rear. But even if it's just a baseline 3310 with plate in rear, it's still worth a try. May take a little tuning.
Try driving it how I said. Transbrake on, rpm aprox 2000. (less if it will rev clean) Nail it as you take your finger off the transbrake. Hopefully will make the convertor flare and go better off the line.

Btw, are you running an advance curve in the ignition timing, or locked up?
If it's not locked, it might also help to lock up the timing and run around 36*. Again, you'll have to try it and see what the engine likes best.

an easy thing to try w/800 is the highest and lowest PV's.
2.5" PV to keep it lean at launch 1700-2000.
if that is a bad idea then 10.5"
dont be afraid to try leaner jets than stock too! especially in the rear.
The 3310 has the same 1 3/8 venturi and 1 11/16 throttle as the 800! it is just rated 50 cfm less due to VS! plus it was 10:1 pig rich in HRM. so i can't get excited about it :(
just set the secondary to only open halfway on the 800 for less cfm  then it is much like a 750
Try #83 rear jet instead of #85, if that is what the 800 has now.

Timing is locked at 38, Time to experiment lol.It had none of these issues last season ,but it was also .3 slower and 5 to 6 mph slower last year.So I will give some of these a try and see if anything works.
