Some people like to know the number... Actually a lot of people do... Most just can't afford it.

Why do car companies advertise HP in there ads? People wanna know

and when you get that HP number, pay for it......then what do you do with it? #-o

The same thing you do with your track number... Nothing, except maybe tell your friends... That's not the point, people just want to know. Who's to say they shouldn't? Give the guy a break man.

If you don't know the HP your engine make, how in the HELL you'll know if your car chassis is doing its best at the strip?

With the HP number you can estimate a ET number, based on a good chassis.

A engine with 50 more horses than you think it have may bandage a poor hooking car via lower ET.

You can compare your car with XX hp to your buddy's car with the same hp, but lower ET and found out why its faster;

Acceleration is about Physics and Physics is about numbers right?

I have made soo many engines for cars ( and or drivers ) that would not even come close to their TRUE QUARTER MILE POTENTIAL it is not even funny. On the internet, many people think just because a car has 700 HP, it will run some really fast times at the drag strip, which is not true most of the times. The old belief that your true HP will show up in how fast your car runs at the track is very seldem correct

Joe knows. He has great knowledge and experience.

Funny thing about questioning west coast dynos.
It reminds me of a thread I read a few years ago on a Super Stock forum:
There were some drivers figuring these other Super Stock drivers were cheating with electronics because they were winning too much. (Dan Fletcher and others)
I could see that the drivers making the accusations had considerable driver experience but it was apparent to me they didn’t have it all quite figured out just yet.

Basically, the guys making the accusations were too stupid to figure out what was going on.

PS >>I didn't see your thread yet?????

Just one way is to have a 40lb flywheel and the engine going 9500 rpm before the clocks even start.
Goofy calculators can get it wrong both ways.

When an engine sees load in an automatic car, the stator helps the engine with the load.
On a dyno, the engine just sees the brake load.

For those that are interested. 711 HP @ 7000 and 592 @ 5550. =D>

Track time in 6 weeks im thinking 9.0 @ 147mph.

Pretty much Chad didnt really chase it. first pull 694 with a 950 hp then 711 with the 1050 quick fuel and 1 inch tapered 4 hole spacer, 32 degrees timing. Job done.

This is so true. lol. The more I am around dyno's, the less Im willing to compare numbers from other dyno's. I have less or the same faith in true dyno numbers from one to another than I do flow bench numbers from one bench to another.

And while ET may be or can be off from one car to another, mph is hard to cheat for the most part. Unless your driving something terribly unaerodynamic or inefficient. The calculators have been pretty accurate for me, and can be beaten even alot of times. All the pro classes beat the calculators, a decent average car should come pretty close. If i have dyno numbers that dont agree with the mph of the car, I question the dyno, not the car.
