Looks like Jon Kasse has a new canted valve small block Ford cylinder head available.

It looks very similar to that Jeg's/Kaase head from a few years ago. I wonder what's different and if it's an improved design?

I respect Jon Kaase greatly he's a heck of an engine builder and a nice guy too. He's always treated me very well.

Yes, I wondered the same thing about the P38 heads compared to the ones that Jeg's was marketing before. I will be looking forward to finding out more information about them including flow numbers. I'm sure it is a great head and will likely want to try a set out hopefully sometime in the not too distant future.

I met a customer half-way and dyno'd a Boss 529 down at Kaase's shop a few months ago. He was doing some machine work on some of these heads and they looked pretty impressive. The port volume may be a little big for the smaller engines, but they should make some serious power. They should be available at any time now.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the advantage over the small port 351 Cleveland heads?

The flow numbers that Chuck relayed to me were much higher than any small port Cleveland head. You're also looking at a Windsor head, which would use a standard Windsor intake, Windsor valve covers, etc.

The other nice thing about these heads, for those of us who have limited engine bay space such as is the case in early model 65/66 Mustangs, is that they have the stock exhaust port location. This helps to allow the use of the limited number of long tube headers that are available for these applications without having to try to custom build something or having to convert to a different style of front suspension system that would allow the removal or notching of the shock towers.
