David Vizard Seminar

At this point I am planning on going to the David Vizard seminar March 11-13 in Lima, Ohio at the University of N.W. Ohio campus. I live in Fargo, North Dakota and air fare is $550 to Indy and then rental car and an hour drive or so. I have decided to be a cheap bastard and drive. I will be going East on Interstate 94 through Minnesota and Wisconsin.

I am wondering if there is anyone on the board who would be interested in carpooling to make the drive a little less tortureous?

Wow, I just checked and from Spokane, twice the air miles as from Fargo, it would be $260. As far as a road trip together, by the time I drove from Spokane to Fargo, Indy would seem like it was just over the next hill. Safe travels.

Travel arrangements and lodging are going to cost me about twice as much as the admission, having to fly the chicken bus of the sky out of Las Vegas and then renting a car and driving the rest of the way in. Think we could talk him into GoToMeeting? \:D/

Ps Mr. Vines, where are you up North? I'm hoping to get myself back up to Coeur d'Alene this spring and I'm never leaving again.

After some digging I found if I fly out of Minneapolis (4 hr drive) to Cincinnati (rent car and drive to Lima) the round trip ticket price can be had for $240 per person. I think that is a little more reasonable than $550/per and that is now my big plan. I'm waiting to hear from 1 person and then I will book the flight. Thanks, guys. 8)

Tell David I said "Hello" and want to know when he's coming to Kansas City again. He's been my Guru since 1979.

Where is everyone staying?
Wingate downtown Lima seems nice and the rates are good.

Any of us who make it to the seminar should do themselves up SpeedTalker name badges or add it to any seminar-provided ID; good chance to meet face to face! [or not, in some cases... :) ]

I booked a room at the Fairfield Inn (by Marriot) which is within walking distance of the school

It was just under $100 per night though

You should have a great time. Speaking of cost, I would not want to think about what airfare from Australia would be.

This is an unsolicited response to an email blast that I sent out to my contacts about the seminar. Disclaimer - I am friends with David Vizard.

Thanks for the invite Stan, I would love to attend, but the costs and distance from here in Australia make it somewhat difficult.

In the early 1990's I attended several of David's seminars held in Brisbane at GPD Automotive. The youtube video on minis where you can hear the trains passing by in the background is one that I attended.

The info attained then has stood me in good stead for almost 20 years as an engine builder.

I have recently purchased David's latest book.

It would be good if he came back and gave a seminar here in OZ, I would be there in a flash.

Regards

Pete
