A mineral based cutting oil will work fine. Products like "Tap Magic" will work as well if your only doing a few guides.
Stay away from any cutting oil that contains Sulfur or Clorine as they will turn, copper, brass or bronze alloys black.

Goodson has some specialty lube for bronze reaming ,altho their av&v guides are magenese bronze and there a tuff alloy,Its quite pricey if I recall ,but seems to work well. Most newer bronze guides are different alloys then the older softer bronze guides, but I know not to use your reamers on the bronze, if you formally used them on cast guides. Mike

The Goodson oil smells like regular motor oil, is red like tranny fluid, and is priced like its made from gold. However since I have gone over 3000 bronze guides per AV&V reamer now I will leave well enough alone and keep using it myself. I have never seen another system cut guides so good and so fast.
