Re: What size carburetor do you run, size engine, use?
313 ci GM Splayed Patterson Engine just redynoed last week at Pattersons made 853Hp and 493ft-lb with my 1.760vent 2.00 Blade Dominators with billet tops .
3 weeks ago we redynoed a 400ci SBX Patterson Engine for superstock (6.5lbs per ci AUTO) and made 22HP more peak and 40HP more average from 8300 to 9100 with my 1.940 v 2.150B dominators with billet tops over the Patterson supplied BRE Dominators.
565 ci BBC Dart 24 deg Heads, Profiler intake , 1140HP with single 2.06Vent 2.375Blade Dominator
just a few recent examples of sizing

496 chevy
three 1407 AFB's
17% under drive 14-71
87 octane
4l80e
702 rwhp @ 6300 5-7 psi
More jetting work needed, then 1:1 blower ratio.

The VOLT should have had a diesel engine...

Wow! What RPM for peak power & torque, and what do those carbs flow? (On second thought, maybe you better not say. If BOZ over in Perth and Troy in California get wind of it, you could be caught in the cross-fire...)RayJE Carburetors wrote:313 ci GM Splayed Patterson Engine just redynoed last week at Pattersons made 853Hp and 493ft-lb with my 1.760vent 2.00 Blade Dominators with billet tops ...

Yes,, if we were in Oz, I guess we would all be "over-carbied"! Must have something to do with it being upside down and all.MadBill wrote:Wow! Re: What size carburetor do you run, size engine, use?
Ironically, the engine that made the most horsepower that I have built a carb for, a 400 cid making somewhere over 850 to 900 horsepower, wasn't with a big carb at all, it was limited to a puny 1.58" dia. venturi 4150 by class rules, but the car dominated and won two seasons and set all kinds of track records just taking some of that big carburetor know how ad applying it to a pea shooter. The engine could have benefited from dual 1250 dominators.
Some 1/4 data:
The '71 El Camino with the all steel front end (but for the hood) and battery up front, knocked .4 off the ET drop kicking the modified 750 dp (I'd say the name of the shop, but I'd rather not so as not to sound as though I am bad mouthing them) and installing a very conservative 1.50" dia. venturi 900.
The 475 hp 350 '64 El Camino went from 11.80's to 11.20's with mildly worked and tuned 650s - 1300 CFM oh ah EDIT: oh ya, sorry, it had about a 125 - 150 hp shot of nitrous, but it wasn't making the full equivalent of the claimed value of the shot - and it didn't need the nitrous to take the carbs
Just to cite a couple.

This is way way down the other end of the scale but I picked up 3 tenths and 3 mph with my RAYJE worked over 750dp holley from stock, on my overweight 3900lb, over cammed 250 @.050, and under compressed 8.3:1 pontiac streeter.
Cheers Steve

That is definitely a carb challenging combination. LOLredsmokin57 wrote:This is way way down the other end of the scale but I picked up 3 tenths and 3 mph with my RAYJE worked over 750dp holley from stock, on my overweight 3900lb, over cammed 250 @.050, and under compressed 8.3:1 pontiac streeter.

I doubt that I'm the only one thinking this but I'll only speak for myself. Let it go, dude! I'm growing quite sick of your attacks. If you don't like TMP Carbs, it's pretty simple. Don't buy one!Boz-Race Engines wrote:
