Bill you have taken my comments way out of context, i dont have a problem with those size carbs at all in that application.MadBill wrote:Wow! What RPM for peak power & torque, and what do those carbs flow? (On second thought, maybe you better not say. If BOZ over in Perth and Troy in California get wind of it, you could be caught in the cross-fire...)RayJE Carburetors wrote:313 ci GM Splayed Patterson Engine just redynoed last week at Pattersons made 853Hp and 493ft-lb with my 1.760vent 2.00 Blade Dominators with billet tops ...

personaly ive found the 950hp to be a dissapointing carb after all the hype when it first came out. alot of people were mislead into thinking it flowed 950cfm. some good marketing strategy there.dragrcr71 wrote:406 SBC 950HP Drag only

Me also. When it was introduced, I was still working from the point of view high velocity - fast air speed was "obviously" the avenue to fast response and good power. I wasn't looking at it from the point of view of cylinder filling, just carburetor optimizationBoz-Race Engines wrote:personaly ive found the 950hp to be a dissapointing carb after all the hype when it first came out. alot of people were mislead into thinking it flowed 950cfm. some good marketing strategy there.dragrcr71 wrote:406 SBC 950HP Drag only

Re: What size carburetor do you run, size engine, use?
Currently what has run best on my 496 high compression bracket race engine is a 1250 Dominator on Methanol. I build and sell them. They flow about 1450 dry on the bench I use. I know, 1250 should be too big for a 496. So the "experts" say. LOL.
