Re: Header Collector Questions
It's all about what the engine/vehicle/driveline combo likes, no matter what you're talking about.... If you can afford bits and pieces, try different lengths and diameters fully until it's happy...
Re: Header Collector Questions
OH NO the paint / tape theory has reared its head again !!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish this would just die but unfortunatly someone hears it and suddenly it becomes gospil again much like alot of the the internet speed secrets ....

Re: Header Collector Questions
Regarding the "paint/tape" theory; Joe Sherman did some testing on the dyno and found that when he painted the collector and cut it off where the paint changed color he kept cutting it off until he didn't have any collector left. Sorry guys, it's a good theory but it doesn't work.
However, testing different lengths DOES work....I've done it on the dyno. In one test an 8" collector lost Tq while the 18" increased Tq a bunch.

Re: Header Collector Questions
Never tried shorty or intermediate length headers. I think Jay Brown has and did not see any benefit over the long tube stuff. But decent gains over most production manifolds. The only exception was the factory '63ish long tube cast iron manifolds which are startlingly good for old iron.
