what is the minimum that can still be useful

i have some electric vacuum pumps on a few customers' engines & they only pull 2"-3.5" but they help for sure. better than pressure. if i remember right it was somewhere under 10 h.p., those engines had a little lighter ring pack but not ultra,ultra light.

A very small amount can be very helpfull. Its those first few inches that really help the power. I would take 1" over nothing any day and go to great lengths to get it.

We use pumps from Steve at Star Machine Excellent quality ...good [eo[le to deal with

i've used Engine Works' pumps. more or less the same as GM uses on newer vettes & other models.
