I've been looking back thru some old threads on VJ's and seat angles, etc. I find it very interesting after looking and playing with Ricks spreadsheet. However, has anyone actually compared a 45 to a 50, 55 in a real life test? Basically has the theory been proven as far as gaining ET or being faster? Just curious, always like hard data! Also this is a unlimited type engine.
As Always, any help would be appreciated..

45 vs 55 hard data?

I would imagine this would be easy enough to test by changing the seat angle. It might involve a new set of valves before a person made the 55*. My concern is that it might not tell the whole story unless the porting was optimised for each valve angle. I've flowed heads where only the width of the seat can show considerable differences.
This is my B16 head and it was flowed (int) with a 45 first and it was in the low 290s -.500 @28".Then just did a valve job to 55degs and it went up 6 cfm.All of the cyl.s went up to 298 ,296, 297,296.
