BBC square port intake on oval heads

I have heard that there is some power running a square port intake on oval port heads.Any body do this? Does it work? This is a drag race effort no street.468 cid roller 12.5 to 1.Thanks in advance as always!I appreciate all the wisdom!

Good thread a few months ago and before that even. Use the search function for rectangular port and oval port and you'll get lots of hits and lots of reading.

I saw it with my own eyes back about 35 or 40 years ago-- Square port tunnelram on oval port heads, car picked up 7 or 10 MPH in the quarter-- I worked at Edelbrock at the time, they all said it should NOT even run, let alone pick up 100 HP
