Crankshafts for 5.7 or 6.0" rods

Post by b73 »

I see that Eagle and Scat ect list SBC 383 cranks designed for 5.7 and 6.0" conrods. Whats the difference between these cranks? I would have thought that the cranks were the same, and any difference in rod length would be taken care of by selecting a piston with the correct compression height..

Counterweights are larger in diameter for a 6" rod crank which makes internal balancing much easier & less expensive.
They need to be cut down for the 5.7 rod or when you get to BDC very bad things happen

What Wolfe said.. I also heard from a supplier of mine that Eagle is discontinuing the 6inch crank as the 5.7 crank will suffice for the 6in rod applications..
