How does load effect intake draw

Can anyone point me in the direction of some papers, or articles on the effects of engine load on the intake flow. Like why does manifold vacuum go up with increased load. I am having problems getting some things right in my head. I hope my question makes sense. THANKS EVERYONE!!!!

Ya what you said! I should have put decreased load sorry! I understand because you open the carb, more, but have anyone ever heard the an old timer say, you have to "grunt" an engine? Like a certain combo needs to work a little?
