Afr 220’s on street motor?

I have a rebuilt pair of afr 220’s and a used set. I’m wanting to know if they would work on a 406 or larger sbc in a street car. No racing just street pounding in an old elcamino. I do have a set of 165 cc dart iron heads that would be good for low rpm but want a bit more without needing crazy high gears, stall etc. would like it to be very driveable at low rpm cruising. Can a 220 head work or is it overkill? These are the old style offset and would need shaft rockers (looking for a set if anyone has a used set!)

i have a set of afr 220 race cnc port that are now about twenty years old , they were on my 383 to start with ,made 615 hp for many years and now on a 417 cube engine making 720hp running 9.4 @144mph in 3300lb street car .They have had a few birthdays over the years but a good a core . Jessel or Yella terra do a shaft system , i used the yella terra for 15 yrs and recently went to the jessel set up.You need to search for rockers for Brownfield which is what the old 220 afr is and require an offset rocker.Use them ,i was unsure when i first bought them and bang for buck they are very good.

Newer "Eliminator" 220 heads but 643hp @ 6500 11.2:1 406 on pump gas & what I would define as a streetable cam so I would say yes.

Do it, 165cc is too small
Getting away with a 230cc head 383 solid roller, El Camino love it. Not the most modern head but car fries M/T with no issue plenty driveable.
Little Hyd cams are for wimps.

My personal experience with a similar combo was nothing but a success. Afr 220s 10.75 compression 427 sbc. 264/268-@.050 cam roller cam. Power peaked at 6700. 654 hp. It went in a 3700 lb car and driver weight 69 camaro. Goes ok. 10.38@. 130. Stick car to boot. Have fun with it...it will fly. Grant.

Now, what would you recommend for a streetable Cam.
Will not see over 6,000 rpm.
Would like to use a hydraulic flat tappet.

I've got a VooDoo 60113 hyd roller cam in my 406 with AFR 195 Comp Elimiators. Made 540 hp and 525 tq with a Vic jr and 750HP Holley. Running a Tunnel Ram now. I shift at 6400 with a 5 speed stick. Lots of torque and pulls hard to 6400.

410sbf with 3 different heads, everything else the same. not a big killer motor so of course when they put on the big heads it layed over.

Did you notice how small that cam was. 218/224 and .513 lift. Engine was 10.2:1.

Problem I see with that test is they used the same cam for all three heads. Obviously that cam was better suited for the 165 heads but it didn't really lose much going to 210 heads did it.
