Re: Sonic checked block

There are many stock blocks of different brands that are thinner than this brand new! If you do indeed have a split cylinder wall then use a nodular iron or better repair sleeve. A cheap grey iron sleeve will just crack again right at the original crack. Thanks, i will check that out and make sure ...

Re: Sonic checked block

Well what I do know is that with a factor block that once you sleeve two cylinders in one bank then the deck is going to start walking around on you, but your cylinder coolant leak will be cured. Nice trade off? I think not! Thanks, that is somthing to think about the block, it is a high nickle thi...

Re: Sonic checked block

Our local rebuilder will not sell a stock 4.080" SBC rebuild. A bad stock tune will sometimes kill one. OTOH, I know several which race every Friday night. It's all in the tune and sometimes just luck. Thank you for your reply, it is a sb mopar early race block and has been running for a 3 yea...

Re: Sonic checked block

I am sorry you lured me in and I wasted my time and energy to respond! Whatever level of power that it is making it’s likely to fail cylinder wall wise at at some point, and I think others here would agree. Sorry you feel like you wasted your time, but in fact you saying you would not trust it at i...

Re: Sonic checked block

Your playing with fire!!! At 4,080” ( + .040” over) you would have some wall sections as thin as about .040” it would seem! Even if you hard blocked up to the water pump holes I would not trust the motor to live even at idle! That is from the bore size now it is not getting bored boring again lol, ...

Re: ProFiler_Raylar_8.1_BBC LS type Heads

Very nice work and great gains as allways,May i ask you 2 questions. What cam lift do you consider going from 45 to 50 seat? And the benefit of a port that does not back up even though you are only lifting say 750? Thanks in advance.

Re: Head flow

The flow numbers on the ported head dropped off at those lift points you posted about because the port velocity is now less at those lift points then what it was stock . There are so many other things to be considered that need to get factored in here that I don't know where to start, but I will sa...
