Installed new cam (much lower vacuum), idle surges now. No vac timing advance. I think it's the power valve but maybe not? Any/all help is appreciated.
Also, is there a way to run ported vacuum on these carbs? For timing advance.

Re: Intake for turbo 5.3
Boost and NA polar opposites, in one app air is forced through, the other its drawn. It will find its way to the cyl just fine Air is "forced through" in both instances. It is moving from higher pressure to lower pressure in both boosted and NA applications. If it helps you can look at th...

Re: 2.3 Lima assembly...tips?
Yes. Small journal. Both bearing options are available depending on the brand/model you choose. We'll see how it goes. I didn't even realize it until I already had the bearings at home.

The set I just installed have half a thrust bearing. It's trimetal which I prefer but I'm uneasy about the half thrust bearing. We'll see what happens.

Re: 2.3 Lima assembly...tips?
Update: My machinist threatened to never work for me again if I filled his precisely machined block, so I took his advice. My propensity for turning 8.80 cars into 10 sec turds made me ditch the T-5 and go with a Dynamic "Mighty Mouse" C4 from craigslist (confirmed purchase with JR) and a...

Re: Head Porting - Preferred tool?
I built my controller , but if you do search they will come up. The Foredom unit does not need a controller as it does way less then the needed 22K rpm to really fully port a iron head before next winter. Lol! Found this searching on Google. Same one on Ebay for twice the price. Looks like this sho...

Re: 500hp 305 recipe
If this was so easy and common to do then why arent we seeing more 305 builds and 305 spec heads? Thats because its not easy to do. 500 hp is a good bit out of a 350-383 let alone a 3.73 bore motor 500 HP out of a 383 is a completely different thing than a 305. 500/383 = 1.305 HP per cube. A walk i...

Re: 500hp 305 recipe
The 200cc heads are a better choice for a large engine. So if you're worried about not actually building a 305 these guys make an excellent point.

Re: 500hp 305 recipe
I was thinking on this build this morning and I'm trying to wrap my head around why you would try and force an AFR or other 200cc head into a build that it doesn't match when you have a well suited head for about the same cost? Can't figure out the reasoning behind it. Personally I wouldn't buy any...

Re: 500hp 305 recipe
The edelbock 7110 tunnel ram is ready to rock and is just right for this. There could not be a better intake manifold for this 500HP 12:1 305 sbc project. Needs NO rework. its ready and capable and well matched. You are not limited to a 1.94" valve. A .040" over 305 can use a 2.02" v...

Re: 500hp 305 recipe
Because the 200cc port SBC heads can move enough air to make 500hp without a lot of work. A 500hp engine needs a 500hp capable induction, head, exhaust system. If you are going to buy aluminum heads buy 500hp capable heads. Not 400hp heads with tiny ports. The tunnel ram is not expensive. Yet make ...
