Re: Egg shaped rods

Until you take the rod out and properly torque and measure it, you are peeing in the wind.

Re: 4.155 X 3.250 SBC Build

I would consider a short fill on the block to stabilize the cylinders. The stock 400 block cylinders like to crack when you get over the 500hp mark.

Re: Sunnen engine honing 1949

Anyone who's hand-honed a block hopes never to have to do it again. Yes, it can produce really good results, but it's really hard work. I hand-honed for over 30 years. Yet my arms are not like Popeye's. Im only about 12 years in, but still skinny. I am quite strong, just dont show it. My brother do...

Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac. A haunting song that brings back memories of a special time and place (and sweet girl) from long ago.

Re: Boxed rods - gone and not fondly remembered

Not old enough, but grew up with boxes of Hot Rodding books and magazines starting from the early 50's. The learning and engineering years, it's all pretty much Cookie Cutting now, pick a recipe, buy it all, bolt it all together. Yep, ""Back in the day" one had to make horsepower, it...

Re: Anyone seen the new Speedmaster IR EFI intake for SBF/SB

A customer recently brought in a Professional Products --now Speedmaster-- SBC "Crosswind" manifold, a knock-off of the Edelbrock RPM Airgap. The Speedmaster piece was unusable out-of-the-box. It was warped .040" on both sides, and the port opening and shapes hinted of a completely ne...

Re: Thread chaser for LS main bolt holes.

I see Goodson has one for 130 bucks, they must get them from Metric Tools, same price. I'll pass.

Looks like it's the old slotted bolt treatment.

Thanks guys!

Thread chaser for LS main bolt holes.

I'm having trouble sourcing a thread chaser for LS main bolt holes. The bolt is 10mm x 2mm. Does anyone have a source for one of these?

Ashcan those used rockers. They will side-load the valves. No good way to recondition them.

Re: 440 camshafts not fitting

I've run into this more and more lately. I have sent the blocks to have them machined for Durabond oversized cam bearings (PDP17R1). BUT that set is no longer available. One has to order brgs. 1,2,3, and 4 directly from Durabond (through my supplier) from that set and use a stock rear cam bearing (n...

Re: C&E Gun Shows?

Cheaper Than Dirt are a bunch of opportunistic , price-gouging dirtbags. They were among those who quit selling guns on-line after Sandy Hook and their prices were among the worst after that incident as well. I wouldn't deal with them on a bet.
