Re: 360 magnum lifter preload problem.

My first thought would be that you have too much seat load on your valve springs for the application. Do you know the specs on your springs? What camshaft are you running? Some fast rate of lift camshafts are very picky on spring loads and are near impossible to keep quiet. After checking this out I...

I'll be there looking into suppliers for upcoming projects. I plan on hitting Mike Jones's booth. See you there.

Re: Take a look at these cam specs...

The stock Magnum can't use that much lift, the Magnum uses 1.6 rockers and the guides need cut down to go much over.500 lift. Not sure on how the piston to valve clearance will work out either

Support from Speed talk

I just wanted to put out the good word that Logan @ the support site went above and beyond to help me out. I had an issue with a purchase that was all on my end of things and he really was a big help.
Its people like this that make me able to keep what's left of my sanity.

Re: engine dyno with a stock cltuch setup slippage???

Not sure what type of dyno you are working with, but most use a 60 tooth wheel and magnetic pick up for rpm. These are mounted behind the coupling whether it is a clutch or other mounting style. You could hook up an electric tech and see if they read different at the rpm you suspect it's sipping. Mo...

Re: cross section for different type fuels

Basing my comments on what I have personally observed, an engine that has a relatively small CSA per cubic inch too feed doesn't respond to a switch to alcohol like a large CSA does. Alcohol is run at a much richer mixture than gasoline so it uses up volume available for air. A small CSA combination...

Re: cross section for different type fuels

The fuels specific gravity doesn't mean much when figuring port volume.
The amount of air and fuel needed does though. The volume of fuel when using alcohol or E85 goes up and so does the required cross section to feed the cylinder.

Re: Which oil for 7000RPM street car?

I recently built a 440 Mopar with similar clearances, and have the customer running Driven LS20 oil. I had a nice talk about it with Lake Speed Jr. Of driven oil first. This is a flat tappet pump gas street strip deal that turns 6800 through the traps.

Re: Now what will you do?

The first thing you should do is find out if something on the car is not up to par. If the power is there on the dyno and its a trusted dyno, then look into the fuel and ignition system on the car. If the systems on the car are not as good as what is on the dyno, thats a good place to start looking....

Re: How NOT to store a Carb

I have several carburetors around here so I have something to break in various engines with on the dyno. I treat them like I do the carburetors from bracket cars during winter storage . Dump the fuel out, spray some WD40 in through the vent tubes and pump the accelerator pumps a few times. Been doin...

Re: Any experiences with 625 cfm Street Demon carb?

Yes,I used the spacer plate. It actually works with the odd idle and transition circuit the carb has. As far as underling the two halves, a lot of modern dual planes have a small notch cut in the divider anyway. I was using an Air Gap style dual plane that was not notched though. I tried posting som...

Re: Any experiences with 625 cfm Street Demon carb?

I have done quite a bit of dyno testing with one. My test engine was a mild Dodge 360. The 625 Street Demon was the best bolton and go carburetor out of the 5 I tested. Both in stock form and after tuning on them all, the Demon pulled more torque and carried it better . The Holley4777 was the next b...

Re: Is BSFC accurate when dyno testing?

Andy, Depending on the sweep rate and a few other factors,I seem to notice about a 500 rpm lag in fuel flow when doing an acceleration test. Fuel temperature( at least on Superflow dynos ) is supposed to be factored in and corrected by the software. Specific gravity temps, etc.can all affect the numb...

Brad, I had just typed a very similar post on another forum you and I both visit frequently. I decided not to post it as it would turn out about like this is going. Too many keyboard cowboys in this world ruin a good thing. I am going to turn myself into a lurker on the sites I visit as its just not...

What do you want to know about them??? I use them and have been pleased with the quality and Rick does well for customer service..
I just put a set on the engine I built for my wife's bracket racer and noticed less electrical noise in the dyno cell.
