Vintage ford parts
Awhile back I had the chance to purchase some parts and equipment from a shop that was once a Ford dealership in my town . The dealership was purchased from its original owner back in 1956 and has been in the same family since, they lost or quit being a ford dealership not long after and just became...

Re: BBC valve guides
Thanks,
I tried one of those but it is entirely to small, I am not sure why these guides are so large. Most bbc heads I do use the 140-1973. I would measure but was destroyed by the valve and finished it off pressing it out. I will try to measure the hole

BBC valve guides
Hello,
Would any one happen to know a part number/name for a BBC 990 casting intake valve guide? Head is dated 1973. I am having a hard time getting them from parts company.
I keep receiving guides that are too small OD. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 5/16" or 8mm sbc valves
I was wanting to use stainless aftermarket valves.
I found some 2.02"/1.57" that I will turn down to 1.94"/1.50" and see how it works.
Rules dictate a non ovate or beehive spring and 1.265" od max.
This is a dirt track engine with solid cam and maybe 7,000 rpm.

5/16" or 8mm sbc valves
Does anyone make 1.94"/1.50" or 2.02"/1.60" standard length to +.100 with the smaller 5/16 or 8mm stems?
Don't need anything fancy, just stainless.
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: 781 bbc head porting
Oh valve bowl is a little tight at 87% on the average. Not real consistent. Air speed is quite high at the short turn all across the apex

Re: 781 bbc head porting
Thanks for the insight guys. You confirmed what i was thinking about the short turn. I will leave the epoxy and work it some and see what i get. I was just a little puzzled because the guy who supposedly did the job is a bit of an expert on these heads. It seemed to me the were just cleaned up and n...

Re: 781 bbc head porting
Class rules require a stock head. Customer is stuck with his valves (2.19"/1.88") and this head due to budget. But wanted to upgrade cam and fresh valve job,,, then back together.

781 bbc head porting
Had a nice set roll into shop. Was freshening up valve job and noticed the port job done on these heads was decent. Flow peaked at 303@ .600" with 2.19" valve. But flow got very turbulent right at .600 and went down hill quick. The previous porter put epoxy on trailing end of guide up to j...
