Re: Pinch point debate 2

Erland, if you have DV's porting book he has some very good CFD shots of a high port head on page 115 that shows this seperation from the short turn, if you don't have it I will email you the pics

Re: Pinch point debate 2

Jon, Look at the Gen 5 GM engine, it isn't exactly an original design, it is lot's of small refinements. They are all about getting the best result done for the least time and money spent. They were asking for the techonologies needed in the software to make this way of working possible for as long...

Something like this: https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/download/file.php?id=2217 https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/download/file.php?id=2211 You can see the flow separating above the seat at the SSR. Erland As a head porter you already know that the air doesn't follow the short turn, my question woul...

Re: racing gasoline

VP makes a product called "Red" it's 100 octane. It will be perfect for your application, and it's cheap compared to all the fuels you listed. Do they even sell that any more? as a VP dealer I would not recommend and my suppler does not even offer it...If you can get their Round Track in ...

Re: Pinch point debate 2

What about a T-ram like the Victor ram or a sheet metal one? would be easier to model? Sure but such a big head and expensive manifold seems to be getting far away from what most people here would run, right? I was thinking something more like a 225 with single plane would be more interesting becau...

Do I think that programs make me lazy, yes as well. Pen to paper and doing the math will give you an understanding of what is going on. I PROMISE! We see this is in our current world on a big scale! if the computer doesn't back it then it must be wrong...A BIG DISCONNECT on actual study of real wor...

Re: Pinch point debate 2

OK 23 it is, what class of volume, CSA, chamber and bore dia are you most interested in seeing? 225-240cc ,2.3" to 2.7'' csa, 60-64cc chamber , bore 4 to 4.18'' . You could do it in relation to this 245 head engine and have actual dyno results to run on dynomation as well. http://www.x/viewtop...

Re: Pinch point debate 2

I just got to the computer where my engine models are, after I get the family settled I will look for some examples to use. We can choose from the following: I think I have some 11, 15 and 23 degree small block stuff, some might be raised port, I forget. Or we could work on the Pro Stock head that ...

Erland, I think one of the best advantages of CFD is being able to actually see the air in a sort.

Re: Pinch point debate 2

You know what I would LOVE to see? A simulation of the piston at TDC/overlap with the valves say .100 open and a 120 inch depression on the exhaust port. We could do a typical SBC for the sake of simplicity. That would be badass. Shawn You may already be familiar with this..."Also supporting t...

Re: Pinch point debate 2

If someone wants to scan a port with pinch in it, I'll show how it can be examined with CAD and CFD. Much better if you can scan the manifold too. And what about the combustion chamber thread? Or that was forgotten? Erland What did you learn from the CFD on the combustion chamber that you didn't le...

Re: Pinch point debate 2

Cant you people discuss without getting mad to each other? :) I have seen too many interesting topics getting locked becouse people somehow turn all this interesting technical discussion to personal fights. To the topic, how big the differences might be in a head designed with talented head porter ...
