Re: E-10 Gas Still Mandated In your Area?
You can get non ethanol fuel here but not many places have it and it's only available in 89 octane, it's also way more expensive.

Re: Boost ?
Sort of like dyno numbers, if the needle goes high enough the performance doesn't matter.MadBill wrote:blown265 brings up a good point re boost being a measure of restriction. Put in a short cam with 0.450" lift and 20# boost will likely pass no more air than 10# would with the right cam...

Re: Boost ?
What do you guys think is the maximum amount of boost you can make on race gas with a typical old school Roots blower on a 598 BBC 10:1 comp. without lifting the heads? This is an 8:71 blower. What type of race fuel? VP alone probably has 20 types with various octane and burn rates... Around here t...

Re: Boost ?
Carbs? Old school blower? 20 pounds? Customers like that need passing on to someone else. That's like when I had my electronics repair shop a few years back......I had an "opposition " shop on the other side of town. You help each other out at times. He'd ring me up laughing......I've just...

Re: Boost ?
Thanks for all the reply's. You are all saying basically what I told him. He wasn't doing this when he bought the carbs. He was making 10 lbs. and roached three pistons so now he made it 10.5:1 and thinks he can make more boost. Somehow these guys are smart enough to make the money to build these th...

Re: Boost ?
14/71 or turbo that said what's his heads and compression any quench? (he's really going to need it with all that heat) carb or injection? real light street roadster he has a better chance to get away with it than a race car because he can't be "on it" that long so what's the application ...

Re: Boost ?
get with BDS or another quality blower firl In my boat experience it's hard to feed a big inch engine without making lots of heat can you use a bigger blower and turn it slower? can you run an intercooler like in a boat? IMHO Alcohol or E85 would be easier It's for a customer, he wants to make 20 l...

If you want the choke to work yes you do. If you just want to race it you can wire the choke open.

Re: E85 Dominator question
you can drill a .062 hole in the main well above the jet and then use the jet to tune. DO NOT DO THIS. I built all my methanol carbs doing this and never had a problem Plenty of people did but that is the old way of doing it. Metering blocks have better capacity and main jets are available way bigg...

Re: E85 Dominator question
Just drill the main jet larger or get larger jets from BLP. They have 1/4"-32 jets (standard Holley jet thread) up to .173" ID. http://blp.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_70_71&products_id=1485 Do this. Much better suggestion. .110" is not that big on a 105...

Some of you guys make this way harder than it needs to be. If you have access to a milling machine and can't figure this out, you should not have access to the machine. If you don't have access to the machine, and tapped too deep, use blue locktite. It's not the best way but it will work.

Re: beting vacuum rules
The vacuum rule seems like a good idea until you talk to a camshaft guy. We built a big block Ford truck and routinely won every time out, street legal class, we did drive the truck to and from the track, put a bunch of them back on their trailers. We finally got kicked out because of fender well he...
