Re: Engine Masters Ring Choices
Exactly........Gapless guys had him switch to a THINNER gapless ring, hence (smoke & mirrors) he saw a gain in power. He also mentioned they LEAKED good (taken right out of the gapless sales pitch book). Take that engine back apart, install conventional rings, with .010 wider gap on the 2nd, and...

Re: Oil ring support rails
Bottom of the ring groove, if the spacer tried to rotate. it would give it a place for the sharpe edge to bite into. NEVER had one move after doing this.TB

Re: Oil ring support rails
We ran them for a long time, before they had dimples. Prick the center of the piston at the gap, with a spring loaded center punch, they wont move then.TB

Re: Does compression height effect piston rock?
Piston rock is determined mostly by the skirt clearance.
A higher/shorter pin height, in excess, makes the piston pivot off the ring pack, hurting ring seal.TB

Most valve grinding machines wont swivel around to a 90 degree cut. We bought a Neway valve cutting machine just for margins. Works great.TBWrench69 wrote:At a risk of sounding stupid, could the valves not be machined on a valve refacing machine?

Re: Fel 1003 OR Fel 1010
The 1010's wont stay with any compression or power. We used them, back in the 80's, then Fel-Pro changed them, and we couldn't get an engine off the dyno with them. If your paperwork says to use them, it's that outdated.TB

Re: Degreeing cam Newbie question
I see you're in the center of the piston, but I still like a positive stop method to find TDC. You got the same results, but on the next engine, you may not be so lucky (too many variables). Are you saying you don't like using a dial indicator for top dead center? I'm just the opposite.... i like u...

I agree, if it's a good head. If it lacks induction, do the oposite on duration, leave the same intake, and add exhaust.TB

Re: Long rods in a circle track stock class motor?
I have to laugh at your location TonyB! The bore size is irrevelant when talking about an engine running 6300 rpm with cast iron intake, exhaust, making 325 HP. The stroke will pull that thing off the corners and with short straights, will make the others look silly. As long as you have a car that ...

You need to look at some QUALITY parts Joe. Callies, along with other reputable companies use smaller forgings for smaller journal sizes.TBbigjoe1 wrote:Most steel rods use the same bolt spacing for the 2.00 and the 2.100 bore size, so you would not see any gain in clearance
