Re: Non automotive pictures
Found this at a garage sale. Had a price tag on it for $15.00, bought it an left quickly before anyone changed their mind. It’s an Admiral, made in the early 50’s. It has vacuum tubes & paper wrapped capacitors. Missing the needle for the record player. Haven’t plugged it in yet cause the power ...

What is this that came with my new crank?
Ordered a new Eagle cast steel crank it arrived today with a ufo. Small steel rod with fixtures on each end. I guessing it’s for balancing?
I know now, it’s a nifty carrying handle, I found 2 screws also.
It was inside a bag that was taped to the bag the crankshaft was in?

Re: Plywood for heat shield under carb?
Made this today out of aluminum street sign. Thought I’d make a heat spacer out of plywood & glue it on top of the aluminum. Might flat sand the plywood on some glass, IDK? If it wasn’t such a bitch to make another aluminum gasket shaped plate I’d glue it on top of the plywood, one on the bottom...

Plywood for heat shield under carb?
Can I make a heat barrier for my Eddy 750 out of regular plywood? I have some 1/2 plywood hanging around to use. I do have some solid pine but its much thicker like 1in thick. Going to use a gasket as a pattern.

Re: Cleaning up engine parts
Mineral spirits in a 3 gal bucket with a screen about mid way up so all the heavy crap goes to the bottom. Spray on oven cleaner for cooked on grease & oil. Car wash sometimes if I'm in the mood to be splattered with everything I'm washing off.

Chevy 357 ci gen1, ported Vortec heads 062's, regular HEI dist, Edelbrock Performer intake for Vortec's, Edelbrock 750 carb. (1407) CR 9.8. Just played with the timing yesterday, installed a MSD vacuum advance stop plate, doesn't advance anymore than 10° now. Mechinal advance stops at 10° also with ...

What about Aron's Falcon on Gas Monkey Garage. But then he striped it down to nothing. But who knows might be some info on what was done that could be helpful.

Re: How to remove this set screw?
Thought about using the one on the head but I think I get a more accurate reading from here.
I don't think the candle wax thing would work with sealent on the threads.
Red hot with aluminum srounding the screw, don't know about doing that.
I'll do the heat an quinch thing. Thanks.

How to remove this set screw?
If this was cast iron I'd have it out by now but since its aluminum I'm not sure how to do It. Heated the area around the set screw with a propane torch, tried loosening by hand, nope, still to thigh. Then heated again an tried my air ratchet, broke the allen bit. I do have an acetylene/air torch but...
