Re: Facts About Turbinado Sugar

Juice fasting is very effective for treating arthritis. The Army doctors told me that I would never make 50 years of age because of all the damage done. I am now 75 and I credit juice fasting to the increase, plus learning to eat right. You are what you eat. Eating whatever is handy and quick is OK ...

Re: Facts About Turbinado Sugar

I was Retired from the Army for reason of Traumatic Arthritis due to a major injury when I was 25. By the time I was 30, I was very affected from the Traumatic Arthritis and white sugar increased the pain by a large margin. Any cooking where sugar is required, we use Turbinado Sugar in the least amo...

Re: 460 Ford build

In the 60's and 70's, before we Ford guys had a lot of aftermarket parts available to us, I would degree my cams as follows. I would take the Woodruff key out of the crankshaft snout and install the cam, camshaft gear, timing chain and crank gear. ( the crank gear would be installed 180 degrees from...

Re: 460 Ford build

This 460 stroker (502) build will be coming together soon. First block turned out needed more than a .030 over bore due to an over zealous ring ridge reamer who took it apart before i purchased it. I allready had .030 pistons with my kit. Bought another block which is ok and now we are moving forwa...

Re: Largest little V-8 you can make.

Isn't that the truth. The 4.6L in my work van runs strong for such a small displacement engine in a heavy vehicle. However, the 6.2L in my Raptor, runs very strong. CAI,computer retune, and Magnaflow dual exhaust. Yes, they have large external dimensions. I have run these mod motors over 300,000 har...

Re: Largest little V-8 you can make.

For 2013, Engine Masters Challenge set the minimum cubic inches at 400 and allowed the mod motor to enter, not thinking that 281 cubic inch motor could be taken out to 400 cubic inches. Jon Kaase Racing won with a 409 cubic inch version of the mod motor 658 torque at 4200 RPM 720 HP at 6400 RP...

And they are, I am sure, after years of faithful support to the program, very disappointed to be a " MAYBE" team. To them I am sure they feel like they have been "Bitch Slapped".

Re: 496 mercruiser

Another WAG Is it possible that either the retainer/keepers on the exhaust valve failed, allowing the exhaust valve to drop. The piston coming up, hitting the exhaust valve would shatter that hypereutectic piston into "a thousand pieces", and bend the rod. I suppose "floating the valv...

Re: 496 mercruiser

Here is my shot in the dark. Was the piston a hypereutectic alloy? Seeing as how they are installed with a tight cylinder wall to piston clearance, and a boat engine using lake water to cool said engine does not have cylinder bore expansion like an automotive engine using a radiator, did the piston ...

AND, my OLD 1988 John Deere STX 38 lawn tractor is still going strong with almost no maintenance. Of course, it runs on BradPen oil.

Re: 1987 camaro tpi tuning advise

Recently, a friend of mine bought a low millage, 1985, manual transmission, corvette, and wanted more power on a budget. So I went on the principle of more air in, more air out. There is a license plate recess in the front bumper and I cut that out and installed a decorative screen in the opening, r...

Re: Propane powered vehicles

For whatever it's worth, I used a propane torch to start my snowmobile engine. It was a heavily modified triple and it did not want to start very well on gas, but by using a propane torch to the 3 carbs, it would fire right up. Waving the torch back and forth across the carbs until the engine built ...
