Re: .842 solid roller lifter needle or bushed??
I spoke with Jesel about this when I ordered mine. The response I got was that they built a bushed lifter because customers were asking for them, not because they thought that they were any better than a needle lifter. I run my Jesels with about 375seat and 1,100 open.

Re: Limit of a stock type oil pump
For what it's worth... I just had a customer break the casting on a M155 (not HV) pump. 7,200 rpm engine, 1/8th mile deal. Apparently Milodon makes their pumps from stronger material to help prevent this. I'm sure others do as well? Milodon also makes a pump support brace. Cheap insurance. My custom...

Re: Bad Valve Stems?
I have run into this situation a few times with E heads. I’ve only seen it happen on heads that were run “ootb”. One set of SBC heads, a few sets of BBM heads. Heads that I have prepped/sold, when they come back in for freshening have essentially no wear on the valves. My summation was/is, the guid...

Re: Bad Valve Stems?
In both instances they are the valves that came in the heads from Edelbrock. Stainless valves with bronze guides. Beyond that, I'm not sure what specific stainless steel or bronze materials Edelbrock would use.

Bad Valve Stems?
I came across something a little unusual for the second time today. The valve stems on all 8 intake valves were worn beyond recognition. I didn't measure, but think .030" wear! The middle of the stem was worn away. This is only the second time I have ever seen this. The first time both intake a...

Re: Valve Seat Cut Width Measurement
Otherwise, if you want to measure it, eye ball it will a caliper. It's not highly critical if the seats vary by a thou or 2 in width This is what I am curious about. If anyone has any other measurement techniques besides "eye balling it" with a caliper. The reason I ask is because I like ...

Valve Seat Cut Width Measurement
How is everyone measuring valve seat cut width(s)? I have tried various methods, but have not really found a way I like/trust yet.

Call Jesel. They may have a set on the shelf for you. I sent a set back not too long ago because they were incorrect for my application. Worth a shot.

Re: Broken Rocker Studs... Why?
As a few of you have suggested, it really just seems like the studs are not up to the task of handling the increased spring pressure. I suppose this should not come as a huge surprise as many of these parts are supplied by the lowest bidder to GM. Hopefully a set of ARP's cures the issue.

Re: Broken Rocker Studs... Why?
The rocker arms need to be checked for clearance. Clearance of the stud and spring retainer. An unbent paper clip works for this if thick enough. Crane came tech info explains this. Most owners expect valvetrain parts are just bolt on and go and find the bad results later. Did this already... not t...

Re: Broken Rocker Studs... Why?
They were adjustable style, self-aligning, 'ball and socket' (non roller tip, non roller pivot) style rockers.midnightbluS10 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 10, 2018 6:13 am You were still using the stock, non-adjustable Vortec rockers when the studs broke? Roller trunnion with non-roller tip?
