Re: 3 cyl engines any good?
Here's the issue with many yanmar's.. It depends on what engine it is and how it was imported. Most of the John Deere stuff is "american" engines so rebuilding one is relatively easy. Occasionally you'll get one that's in like a short run JCB loader or something that's a grey market import...

Does anyone have a need for a wet magnaflux machine?
It looks almost like this model here http://oakbluffclassifieds.com/By-Year/2002/Magnaflux-inspection-unit-ndt-equipment.aspx I'm trying to gauge as to whether people still utilize this process or not. We were required to have it for a contract and no longer really use it. Takes up quite a bit of sp...

Curious, what do you charge for the installation? Either we're to high or they're to broke.

Re: The Colorado Shootings
While I think the events that happened are tragic, I'm not just seeing a "wave of anti-gun", I'm seeing a wave of people taking this and just molding it for whatever cause. Things like "he's white so that's why the police didn't shoot him, if he was mexican/black etc, he'd be an illeg...

Re: Welding PISTONS..??!
I've welded cracks in them before. If you tell a customer this, they will give you [-X and :^o. But when it's their motor and they've got one race left in the weekend after driving 3 states and hotels/food for crew they're like this. [-o< It worked long enough for the new set to be made and come in ...

Re: Is this head surface good for MLS gaskets?
I utilize a permatex product designed for boilermakers on my MLS gaskets. I've found it more reliable than "copper coat". http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_sealants/auto_Permatex_High_Tack_Spray-A-Gasket_Sealant.htm If you take their industrial line of...

Re: Turn just one crank journal undersize - why not?
As to the sleveing on the old 7.3's.. We make them purchase all 8. There's not the option for sleveing one and then we pressure test the coolant area to 130lbs when we're done. The reason being, that we did the "repair" for a guy. He sold the truck with the same "totally rebuilt sleev...

Re: Considering starting shop What machines to start with??
You either need to figure out if you plan to offer a service or sell a product. Like if you want to do SBC cylinder heads. Then just do them and have inventory and sell them exchange. You'll know casting #'s, what sells, what doesn't and what the prices of the parts are. If you sell a service then w...

Re: How to improve NASCAR
V8 touring cars in america might be more exciting but road racing is impossible to watch via grand stands and you won't get the gate proceeds. So I think you're going to have to go for more gimmicks. You could improve nascar by having a computer randomly determine the length of the race. Maybe lap 5...

I may have a lead for you. I think the army used to use them. I will consult my friend the "old guy" as I think he has one in a back room. If I remember they're in about a 5' long metal box that's 12" wide and 6" deep. weighs about 100+ lbs.

Re: Fuel injection is approved for NASCAR..
they're still running daytona 500 commercials down here like crazy.. and they're not running them because it's sold out.. last two races I've been to.. I really kinda felt that I got terrible value for my dollar.. I don't see how Fuel injection is going to fix the issue of 42 cars not really passing...
